I'd given up moth trapping for the year but it has been so mild today I thought I'd give it a go and caught this fresh male Winter Moth (females are wingless).
Also caught 3 Mottled Umber and a Pale Brindled Beauty which is my earliest record.

With the temperature still at 7 Centigrade at 7:30 pm as I write this there are one or two moths taking to the wing. This is my first Winter Moth of the Autumn. Much smaller than the Northern Winter Moth and darker, particularly on the hind-wing the identification of these species is generally not a problem.

Despite a maximum temperature of 4 Centigrade and a minimum close to zero there are still a few moths around and I caught two Mottled Umber, Winter Moth and 2 Chestnut last night.
The Winter Moth shows the darker hind wing which is a useful feature to separate it from the Northern Winter Moths taken earlier in November.
