Cloaked Carpet makes a welcome return to the garden

The first Derbyshire record of the Cloaked Carpet was as recent as 2007 at Frogatt, I caught three the following year and it was caught locally in each of the following years to 2011 but then nothing for the following three years until this fine example appeared in last night's catch.

Cloaked Carpet Matlock 5th August

Brian Statham caught this Cloaked Carpet in Matlock on Friday night, he also caught one on the 3rd. First recorded in Derbyshire in 2007 when a single was taken at Frogatt, I caught 3 at home the following year and it has been recorded annually in the area since. Designated Nationally Scarce B it has clearly expanded in to this area presumably from the nearest population on the Welsh border.
