Osprey - Rowsley

Hot on the heels of Ospreys recorded at both Ogston and Carsington reservoirs early this week I had my first of the year just north of Rowsley this afternoon. Although it was distant when I saw it you can just make out that it has a blue Darvic ring on its left leg, so could be the same bird photographed in 2016.
The Derbyshire Wildlife Trust has put up a number of nest platforms in the County over the past couple of years and it surely can't be long until we have a first breeding pair.

  1. Think I spotted 1 in a tree by the river down by Whatstandwell station. Couldn't slow down for a proper look as in traffic

  3. Thank you for sharing. It's great that the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust put up those nests to help. Hopefully future breeding will happen sooner than later. Have a great day.

  4. The river keepers at Haddon have put up suitable platforms by a very quiet stretch of river. Last year the young male put a few sticks together on it. Fingers crossed that he makes a better job this year and wins a wife...
