First major rarity - Chocolate-tip

Added Brimstone and Chocolate-tip from the trap at home last night. The Chocolate-tip is a major rarity in Derbyshire, looking on the National Biodiversity Network plus the Derbyshire & Notts Entomological reports there may have been odd records in the south of the county but that's all.
Didn't catch much else, Oak-tree Pug 2 , Common pug 2, Brindled Pug 5, Pale Tussock 1, Bright-line Brown-eye 1, Common Quaker 1.

A cool night with only 19 moths caught but four were new for the year; Pale-shouldered Brocade, Flame Shoulder, Red Twin-spot Carpet and Bright-line Brown-eye, also a darker form of the Water Carper abb piceata plus Brindled Pug 3, Oak-tree Pug 3, Small Phoenix 1, Brindled Beauty 1, Hebrew Character 2, Clouded Drab 2 and the unusual Engrailed/Small Engrailed (photo below).

An unusual form of The Engrailed

Caught this evening, the surface of the wing looked similar to Powdered Quaker! Given the date it could now be a form of Small Engrailed also.

Black Stork Beeley Moor Yesterday

There appears to be a genuine report of a Black Stork over Beeley Moore yesterday at about 2:40 pm flying SW in the direction of Ogston Reservoir. I was on the moor mid-afternoon watching my first Hobby of the year and can't recall seeing a large black and white stork.........Oh well.

Surprisingly I caught an Alder Kitten last night, I've never caught Poplar Kitten locally so am unlikely to get the set.

Good numbers of spring migrants

Walked up to Beeley Moor and saw a good selection of spring migrants; Pied Flycatchers and Wood Warbler in Halldale Wood, not a great photo but you can tell what it is. Tree Pipits on Flash Lane and Lesser Whitethroat on Beeley Triangle with a flyover Crossbill. Also had my first Cuckoo yesterday.

A couple of hours on Flash Lane produced the first White-pinion Spotted of the year but little else, the temperature dropped rapidly once the sun had set.

I've identified the micro from a couple of weeks back as Zelleria hepariella, not sure of the status in Derbyshire.

 I now have another to id looks like Gracillariidae and probably Caloptilla, in natural light it looks almost black but the two photos below were taken with full macro light and the second in daylight with some additional lighting.
